Are we supposed to keep the Feasts of the Lord?

There are seven annual Feasts of the Lord, and they are High Sabbaths as well:

1. FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD, (1st Night)
2. FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD, (7th Night)
3. PENTECOST(Feast of Weeks)
4. THE MEMORIAL OF THE BLOWING OF THE TRUMPETS
5. THE DAY OF ATONEMENT
6. FEAST OF TABERNACLES (1st Night)
7. THE 8th DAY, THAT GREAT DAY OF THE FEAST

I’m gonna review on two of them for time sake. Okay, we’re going to start with the Feast of Unleavend Bread.

Leviticus 23: 1-2, 4-7
1. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Note: Keep in mind, this is the Lord speaking unto Moses,

2. Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.

((Moses don’t have a law, you might have heard the term, “The Mosaic Law,” naw…the Laws and commandments are commanded by God and passed on by Moses. In particular, “The Feasts of the Lord,” which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations(holy gatherings), even these are my feasts. These are the Lord’s Feast, not the Jews feasts. Let’s continue.))

4. These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.

((These feast must be proclaimed in their seasons. Seasons, meaning there is a set time for these feast to be observed.))

5. In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD’s passover.
6. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.

((Okay, this Feast last seven days, and we must eat unleavened bread all 7 days. Unleavened bread- means bread that hasn’t rose after baking. Leavened bread consist of: normal sandwich bread(Aunt Millie’s), cakes, cookies, brownies. These agents make bread to Leaven/rise, and some are: eggs, baking power and baking soda.))

7. In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

Note: A holy convocation(holy gathering), No servile work(no working for money)

8. But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

((Okay, the seventh day is an holy convocation as well, and no servile work. Now we’re going to look at the events before and after Jesus death, and his death. Let’s continue.))

John 19: 29-31, 40-42
29. Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
30. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

((Okay, Jesus fulfilled prophecy and died. Let’s continue.))

31. The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

((The Jews was urgent in taking down the bodies, because it was the preparation. The land would have been defiled if they’d left the bodies up on the cross. The preparation of what? Let’s continue. If we had no other knowledge of the Annual Sabbaths(The Feasts of the Lord) we would believe this scripture is pertaining to the regular weekly Sabbath, which begins on Friday sundown, and ends at Saturday sundown. This sabbath is not the regular weekly sabbath, it’s an high sabbath, “The Feast of Unleavened Bread, the 1st day.” It was not Friday, it was Wednesday. This is the error that has been taught concerning Jesus dying on Good Friday and rising Early Sunday morning. Ref. Daniel 9: 26-27. Let’s take a look at this.))

Daniel 9:26-27
26. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

Note: The Messiah(Jesus) cut off(killed), but not for himself. He died for sins of the whole world. In 70 A.D. Titus led the Romans in assaulting and destroying the city(Jerusalem).

27. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

((Jesus shall confirm the covenant with many for one week, and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease. The midst of week is Wednesday, here are the days of the week:

1-Sun, 2- Mon, 3- Tue, 4- Wed, 5- Thur, 6- Fri, 7- Sat.

3 days on both sides of Wednesday, leaves Wednesday as the midst/middle of the week. When Jesus died, the animal sacrifice and oblation ceased. He became our sacrifice, the Lamb of God. He rose just before the Seventh day sabbath ended. Okay, back to the Feast Days of the Lord.))

John 19: 40-42
40. Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
41. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
42. There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

((Okay, the Jews laid Jesus in that sepulchre that was near, because they were preparing for the High Sabbath Day(The Feast of Unleavened Bread). Now, let’s look at some more details on how the Feast of Unleavened Bread is to be observed.))

Exodus 12: 15-20
15. Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.

((Again, seven days unleavened bread must be eaten, and all the leavening products that have risen must be disposed of before the 1st day of the Feast until the last. No eating cookies, cakes, chips, pancakes, or any type of bread product that has rose from being baked or cooked.))

16. And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.

((No work on the 1st and 7th day of this Feast. If some have jobs that will not allow them to take off, they’ll just have to work, yet after work we must honour how it’s supposed to be kept.))

17. And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.

Note: This Feast of Unleavened Bread represents God delivering Israel out of Egypt, from the bondage of the Egyptians. It’s an ordinance that shall be observe how long? Forever. How long is forever? It has no end. So.., during Moses generation, Jesus and the Apostles generations, even our generations, and the generations to come, it’s commanded for us to keep this Feast.

19. Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.

((This Feast is for the congregation of Israel, as well as the stranger(any other nation).

20. Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.

Skipped to 29

29. And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.

((This is the last plague that the Lord brought upon the Egyptians, and that was the killing of all the first born in Egypt. Skipped to Verse 33))

33. And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men.

((The Egyptians were scared of what the Lord might do next, for instance: kill’em all. So they rush and forced the Children of Israel out of Egypt.))

34. And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneadingtroughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders.

((Because of the urgency of the Children of Israel leaving Egypt, they didn’t have time for their bread to rise or leaven.))

39. And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt, for it was not leavened; because they were thrust out of Egypt, and could not tarry, neither had they prepared for themselves any victual.

((Once they left Egypt and settled down, they baked the dough, yet it was unleavened. This is what the physical part of this Feast represent. The next scripture is reiterating when the Feast of Unleavened Bread begin.))

Numbers 33: 3
3. And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the passover the children of Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians.

Note: The Feast of Unleaven Bread begins on the Fifteenth day of the first month, after the Passover, which it’s held on the 14th day of the first month. Let’s continue and find out if the Feasts of the Lord were being observed after Jesus death and resurrection.

KJV Acts 20:1, 6
1. And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.
6. And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.

Note: Paul still kept the Feasts of the Lord, even the Feast of Unleavened Bread, after Jesus death and resurrection. Let’s continue and find out why.

KJV Deuteronomy 16:16
16. Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty:
((It’s been commanded by the Lord to keep these Feast: Unleavened Bread, Feast of weeks(Pentecost), and the Tabernacles. Let’s continue and read about another Feast, that Peter and the other disciples were keeping after Jesus death and resurrection.))

Acts 2: 1, 4-5
1. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

((This is Peter, and the other Jews(Israelites) keeping the Feast of Weeks(Pentecost)

4. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

There was Jews(Israelites) that travelled from out every nation(country) under heaven to Jerusalem to keep this Feast. Let’s read about this Pentecost in Leviticus 23.

Leviticus 23: 9, 11-12,14-16, 21
9. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
11. And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.

((This sheaf has to be accepted after being waved.))

12. And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the LORD.

((Note: Keep in mind, that, a he lamb without blemish has to be waved also for a burnt offering. Isn’t this similar to Jesus. He was the Lamb of God, without blemish(without sin), he became the sacrifice for the whole world, and was first to be born again(raised from the dead inheriting eternal life-immortality.  Let’s continue.

14. And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

((This also is a statue for ever to be observe throughout our generations in all our dwellings. That’s why Peter, and the other disciples/apostles were keeping it. Let’s continue.))

15. And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:
16. Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

((This waving of the sheaf by the priest will always happen on the day after the weekly Sabbath(Saturday). The waving is on the next day after the 7th day Sabbath, which is Sunday(the 1st day of the week). We must count 7 Sabbaths, which will amount to 49 days. When we make it to the 7th Sabbath, we must add the next day and we’ll have the day of Pentocost, which will always be on Sunday. Pentecost, basically means fifty. Is this Feast still a commandment to be kept? Let’s continue.))
Leviticus 23:21
21. And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.

((We shall have an holy convocation(gathering) on the Feast of Weeks(Pentecost), we shall do no servile work(no work for money), it is a statue for ever in all our dwellings throughout our generations. Let’s continue and find out if Paul the Apostle, kept the day of Pentecost.))

Acts 20:16
16. For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

Reminder: This is after Jesus death and resurrection that Paul the Apostle was hasting to keep the day of Pentecost. Let’s continue.

Acts 18:20-21
20. When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;
21. But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.

All the Feasts of the Lord are written in Leviticus ch. 23. These are commandments for us to keep, yet we nolonger have to sacrifice the animals that they sacrificed back then on the Feast Days. For further info on why we no longer have to do any sacrifices. Click link below:
