I’m a single Christian. What should I keep in mind and understand before getting married, if that’s my choice?

 

These are some scriptures that a single Christian should keep in mind and understand before getting married, if that’s his or her choice.

KJV 1 Corinthians 7:1-4
1. Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

Why?

2. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

Note: That’s pretty self explanatory. We all know that kissing and touching can lead to fornication even adultery if one or the other, or both have a spouse already. Let’s continue.

3. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

(((benevolence- meaning, both the husband and wife showing kindness, compassion, and mercy towards one another. Let’s continue.)))

4. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

(((Verse 4 is concerning the love making or sexual department. If the wife is in the sexual mood, her husband is expected to get involved and if he’s not in the mood, he should be willing to get in the mood. Although it’s good for the wife to be considerate if her husband is sick, hurt, or afflicted by something to not press the issue at that time. If the husband is in the sexual mood, his wife is expected to get involved and if she’s not in the mood, she should be willing to get in the mood. It is also good for the husband to be considerate if his wife is sick, hurt, or afflicted by something to not press the issue at that time, especially when the wife is on her menstrual cycle or period, because it’s a law that man is commanded not to penetrate his wife while she’s on her period(ref. KJV Leviticus 18:19, Leviticus 15:24-25).

19. Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness.

KJV Leviticus 15:24-25
24. And if any man lie with her at all, and her flowers be upon him, he shall be unclean seven days; and all the bed whereon he lieth shall be unclean.
25. And if a woman have an issue of her blood many days out of the time of her separation, or if it run beyond the time of her separation; all the days of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation: she shall be unclean.

KJV 1 Corinthians 7:5
5. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

(((Okay, if the husband or wife deny the power their spouse has over them, they commit defraud, and that could open up the possibility for Satan to tempt them, if both spouses hasn’t agreed on a time to come together. If a time is not set: sometimes or most of time somebody could develop a wandering eye, lusting and/or seeking affection from somebody else. Brothers and Sisters, we don’t need to fight temptation no more than what we have to, especially when we leave our household to go to work, to shop, pay bills, or ect. It’s almost if, we’re provoking our spouse to step out on us, by being selfish and not attending to our spouse. On the other hand, if a conflict or strife is going on between a married couple and they both need time apart by themselves to cool down, relax, and gather their thoughts by seeking God by fasting and prayer for 1, 2, 3, or more days, or whatever time agreed upon, can very well strengthen the married when coming together again. Both parties can come together with considerations using Godly solutions provided in descent calm collective order. By doing this, it can eliminate regrettable words spoken in the heat of an argument, misunderstanding, or disagreement. A lot of times it could be great once away from another for awhile. While away, we’d most of the time reminisce on the good qualities, the enjoyment of being with one another, as far as the men: who have a good help meet(wife)))), they’d be missing the cooking, cleaning, nurturing, thoughtfulness, ect. As far as the woman: who have a good husband that take care of the heavy-duty stuff, yard-work, handy-man household maintenance, etc. Being away from one another awhile, can almost be like a reminder of how significant, needful, helpful, and great our spouse is to us, despite the conflicts and arguments, and maybe we’d be more appreciative and considerate of one another. Let’s not forget, with all this reminiscing, our desire for one another in the “quality time” area will have most-likely increase as well. So you know it’s “ON..” now. Can you remember how it was, as a little child to see the fireworks show on the 4th of July as a child for the first time? 🙂

These scriptures are for the Unmarried and Widows

KJV 1 Corinthians 7:8-9
8. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

(((Paul was without a wife, he says it’s a good thing if a person can remain unmarried. Hey.., to each his own. Let’s look at the other side of the coin.)))

9. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

Note: Verse 9 is talking about burning in the lake of fire. If a person can’t contain themselves from the sexual act when not married, they should get married. What I’m about to mention is the norm within many Christian organizations. There are many single males and females who title themselves as Christians, yet many have different partners throughout each year for convenient sex(casual sex), and one night stands, with no interest in marriage. For instance, many females have a boyfriend and many males have a girlfriend for 3, 6, 12, or more months or less. Then breaking up, now seeking, and getting another. Some even already have another one line up soon as they break up. Some are even already sexually involved with the next before they break up. That type of behavior is not pleasing to God. It’s not a good example for young children who are becoming teenagers. Let’s continue.

KJV Revelation 21:7-8
7. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

((Overcome what? Ourselves, our weaknesses, temptations, anything that keeps us from inheriting eternal life.))

8. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

(((A whoremonger is a male fornicator or pimp. Let’s continue.))

KJV 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
9. Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10. Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

(((A fornicator can be male or female. Whosoever remain a fornicator will not inherit the Kingdom of God, but the second death(the Lake of fire and brimstones, gnashing of teeth, and being eating on by worms forever……………….)))
