So, if Jesus was back there with Moses, why didn’t the people of God refer to him or call on him by the name Jesus in the Old Testament?

First, the Messiah means Christ(ref, John 1:41) and Christ means anointed. Jesus had to become man to be anointed, therefore he couldn’t be anointed until he set aside being God first. Jesus had to fulfill all prophecy concerning him becoming man, before ultimately becoming our Savior, from him being baptized, teaching, the healings, the beatings, drinking the vinegar before death, crucifixion, 3 days and 3 nights, and resurrection. Okay, let’s run it.

Jesus coming, prophesied by 2 different Prophets, before being born a man

Psalm 69:21
21. They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

((Did this really happen to Jesus, when he was born into the realm of mankind. Let’s continue, and find out.))

Matthew 27:48
48. And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
49. The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
50. Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

Okay, this really happen to him. Let’s continue.

Isaiah 50:5-6
5. The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
6. I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

((Whoa…this is some cruelty, did this really happen to Jesus. Let’s continue.))

Matthew 26:67
67. Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,
68. Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

Okay, that happened as well. Let’s continue.

Isaiah 52:13-14
13. Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.
14. As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:

((Marred defined- destroy or injure severely, damage, disfigure, gouge, and mangle. No man has suffered a beating like Jesus. Let’s take a look in the New Testament to see if this happened to Jesus.))

Luke 23:13-16
13. And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14. Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:
15. No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
16. I will therefore chastise him, and release him.

John 19:1-3
1. Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
2. And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,
3. And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

Scourge means – a whip used to inflict punishment, punish severely; excoriate, devastate or ravage

Excoriate -tear or wear off the skin or make sore by abrading

Let’s continue.

Jesus birth

Luke 2: 11,21
11. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
21. And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

We’re going to cover two parts of the Son of God’s journey

Part 1: Jesus was God, became man, and went back to being God

Part 2: The son of God’s name wasn’t Jesus before being named Jesus after his birth through Mary. His name was….I’m gonna let the Bible Speak.

Part 1: Jesus was God, became man, and went back to being God

According to scripture, before being born of Mary, there were no such titles as God the Father and the son of God(Jesus), they both were considered a God, two individuals with the same power, yet with different positions, for instance: picture 2 people starting a business from ground up, putting the same money into the business to get it running. Now there are responsibilities that have to be divided. These two individuals communed and came to an agreement on the responsibilities/profits, and split them down the middle. One says.. I’ll manage the Human Resources and Financial Dept and the other says, I’ll manage the transport, packing, and receiving. Although these two have different positions, still they have equal power, neither one can cancel out the other. The same with who we now know as God the Father and God the son. They both were God’s from the beginning. Picture who we now know as the Father managing the transport(sending Jesus), packaging, receiving(resurrecting and receiving him into Glory(ref. John 17: 5) and the son taking on the management in Human Resources and Financial Dept: it’s kind of related to him agreeing to be demoted from being God in spirit to becoming human(flesh) paying for our debt(sins). Take a look at these scriptures:

1 Timothy 3:16
16. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

((We just read God demoted into the form of mankind as Jesus the son of God, and received back up into glory. Let’s continue.))

Philippians 2:5-7
1. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
2. Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
3. But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

Psalm 45:6-7
6. Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
7. Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Note: in verse 7, This is David prophesying about God which became the son being anointed by God the Father before he was born of Mary. You could say, “therefore Jesus, thy Father hath anointed thee…” Here’s more confirmation that the Father anointed Jesus in this next scripture.

Acts 10:38
38. How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

((Okay, with that being covered, let’s continue onto Part 2:

Part 2: The son of God’s name wasn’t Jesus before being named Jesus after his birth through Mary. His name was….I’m gonna let the Bible Speak. Okay, let’s go:

Jesus made a statement to the Jews about existing before Mary.

John 8:56-58(King James Version)
56. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
57. Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?

((Keep in mind, the Jews understood that Jesus said he was in existence during the life of Abraham and that Abraham saw his day and was glad. Let’s continue.

58. Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Note: Jesus then mentioned “Before Abraham was, I am.” To break this statement down further, you could say, “Before Abraham was ever born, I’ve been here.” For connection in the next few scriptures, remember Jesus referred to himself as “I am.”

Exodus 3: 4, 6, 13-14
4. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
6. Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
13. And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
14. And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Note: The God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob in verse 6 referred to himself also as “I AM” unto Moses in verse 14. Does that look familiar? Jesus referred to himself as “I am” in John 8: 58. Now let’s read about one of Jesus titles before being born of Mary.

Exodus 6: 1-3
1. Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.
2. And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:
3. And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.

Okay, before being born of Mary and bearing the name Jesus, he was the Lord God which dealt with Moses, even Pharoah, in bringing all those plagues on Egypt, ultimately killing all the firstborn of the Egyptians before delivering the children of Israel out of his hand(ref. Exodus 12:11-13). This same God previously known as “I am” in John 8: 58, and Exodus 3: 14, also appeared unto Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as God Almighty, but by his name Jehovah was he not known unto them in Exodus 6: 3. Not I, but the holy word of God confirms that who we now know as the son of God(Jesus the Christ) was Jehovah in the Old Testament.

Until again

Peace and Love
